Graduate Students Home Page - Winter '98
MS Bureaucrats -
Reza Behforooz
and
Edward Swierk
These bozos are supposed to generally represent graduate students to
the department and are ultimately responsible for problems they are
unable to offload unto others. Send email to
bureaucrats@cs to
reach them and a few past bureaucrats.
A new PhD bureaucrat and a new MS bureaucrat are chosen every quarter,
to serve for two quarters.
Social Committee - Sergey Brin, Leon Wong
Three(+) students elected in the Fall (or Winter). Organize social
events or embezzle money, once a quarter.
Recruitment committee -
Uri Lerner, Chen Li, Li-wei He, Xavier Boyen,
Bernd Finkbeiner, and Beth Seamans
Elected in the winter, they make sure the prospective Ph.D. students have a good time
during the recruitment week-end and come to Stanford.
PhD program committee: Program, policy, and evaluation -
Julien Basch
One Ph.D. student. Evaluates the Ph.D. program policies.
Faculty search committees -
Edouard Bugnion, Avi Pfeffer
Two students per Faculty Search Committee.
Get food and drink for our Friday gatherings, on the 4th floor balcony of Gates.
The committee regularly reviews the various curricula.
The action has slowed down in this committee, but the building can do
with a few improvements, and who knows if we won't get a few more wings
here and there.
Two students elected
The main responsibility is to help organize the annual Forum meeting.
Sports Czar - Michael Harville
Elected in the Fall.
Keeps graduate students healthy by helping organize IM teams.
Webmaster of the www-cs-student pages. In particular, he maintains
this page. (Isn't delegation great?) --- But why am I the one who is
typing this, then?
Space and Computer Czars - TBA
Elected in the Spring, allocates office space and computers to students.
Please note that there are two more committees that have significant
student representation, namely the Ph.D. admissions committee and the
MSCS committee. Candidates should not contact those student
representatives directly. If you have any questions about this policy,
please feel free to contact one of the bureaucrats instead.
