Joshua Tree National Park, California

Serene and I took a short vacation during winter break and headed to Joshua Tree National Park where we hiked and stargazed.

  Driving through Joshua Tree.

We drove through Joshua Tree the first day and stopped throughout to do short hikes.

  Lost Horse Mine

We did a longer hike in the middle of the day to Lost Horse Mine. The trail leads up to a small mountain where there is a nice overview of the entire national park.

  Key's View

After hiking at Lost Horse Mine, we drove to watch the sunset at Key's View.

  Hidden Valley

On our second day in Joshua Tree, we did 2 small hikes at Hidden Valley and Barker Dam and one moderate hike up Ryan Mountain to see the sunset. Hidden Valley is a small valley enclosed within a ring of rock formations. It was blasted open in earlier times to allow for grazing.

  Barker Dam

Barker Dam was built to keep a reservoir of water for cattle.

  Ryan Mountain

After the two short hikes, we made a quick hike up Ryan Mountain to catch the sunset.
