Jammer of Death's Gates DKP System FAQ

1. What does DKP mean?
DKP, or Dragon Kill Point, is a currency system to distribute items dropped during guild raids to raid participants.
1.5. Why is DKP useful?
Say you have been on 10 guild raids hoping for the last piece of your class set, and someone who has just joined the guild goes on raid #11 with you. Luckily, the piece you need drops, but you roll a 1 and the new guildie outrolls you and takes the item.
Hardly seems fair right? That's where DKP comes in. Someone new to the guild starts at 0 DKP, and you have probably collected at least 100 DKP for those 10 raids. In the above case, the class piece will go to you, minus the DKP cost, no questions asked.
2. How do I receive items using DKP?
Every item, excluding quest items, dropped during a raid will have an associated DKP cost. If you want an item, then the DKP cost of that item will be deducted from your DKP pool. If multiple participants want a single item, then the person with the highest DKP total will be given priority.
3. How are item DKP costs assigned?
Item DKP costs are determined by the following table.
- 1 x item level for each GREEN item
- 2 x item level for each BLUE item
- 4 x item level for each PURPLE item
- NOTE: 25 DKP cost for each free guild enchant received.
For example, if Holysmoke has 250 DKP and wants to buy Plate Armor of All Asskicking, a level 55 blue item, then he will pay 55 x 2 = 110 DKP and have 250 - 110 = 140 DKP remaining.
3.5. What about "ninja'd" items?
Hopefully on a guild raid there won't be any ninja'd items. In the case of "accidental" rolls or pickups, you will be penalized for the full DKP cost of an item if the item is bind on pickup. Please note that this penalty is IN ADDITION to the normal DKP cost of the item.
Examples:
Holysmoke accidentally loots a lvl 52 bind on pickup blue leather chest. He will be charged 52 * 2 * 2 = 208 DKP.
Holysmoke accidentally loots a bind on pickup reagent (such as abomination stitchings) with no level requirement. These reagents will be treated as lvl 55 blue items and the DKP cost for ninja-ing one will be 55 * 2 * 2 = 220 DKP. Please note that if you acquire reagents from normal distribution, you will NOT be charged DKP at all.
4. What about class-specific armor sets?
Class sets have the same item cost described above, but the item priorities are determined by class first, followed by DKP. For example, Wongus, Tanner, and Elemere are in a raid, and the Valor chestpiece drops. Wongus and Tanner immediately receive priority over Elemere, and DKP will be used to determine who receives the item. If Wongus and Tanner both pass, then Elemere may choose to buy the item using her DKP pool.
5. What if I don't have enough DKP to cover the cost of an item?
You may go into the negative as the result of an item purchase. Please note that the previous rule regarding class sets does not apply if you are in the red. If Wongus has negative DKP and a Valor piece drops, then if Elemere is in the black, she will get priority. If you are in the red, you also may not roll on scourgestones until you are back into the positive. In addition, while you're in the red you will not be able to receive any free enchants from the guild. However, you may still bring all materials to OGPlaya and he will perform the enchant without a service charge.
6. Will discounts ever be offered on items?
No.
7. Will random rolling ever be used?
Random rolls will only be used to break ties in DKP totals.
8. How do I earn DKP?
Generally, DKP can only be earned during official guild raids on BRD, L/U BRS, Stratholme, and Scholomance.
- 1 DKP awarded to each participant for each GREEN item disenchanted or banked for the guild.
- 2 DKP awarded to each participant for each BLUE item disenchanted or banked for the guild.
- 4 DKP awarded to each participant for each PURPLE item disenchanted or banked for the guild.
- DKP cost for each item purchased during the raid will be evenly divided amongst the raid participants. For example, if Supafob and Tanner, members of a 10-man guild raid, both wanted the 1-handed Sword of All Asskicking, a lvl 58 blue item, and Tanner purchased it outright because he had a higher DKP total, then *everybody* in the raid would receive 58 * 2 / 10 = 11.6 ~= 12 DKP.
8.5. What if a really profitable item drops and nobody in the guild needs it?
An officer of the guild will loot and sell the item, and evenly distribute the gold to all raid participants.
9. How do I earn DKP outside of official guild raids?
It is tough to earn DKP outside of official guild raids. You can earn DKP at anytime by giving the guild lvl 50 or above blue or purple items at 2 or 4 DKP per item. Please note that disenchanted shards and dust are not "items" and cannot be turned in for DKP. However, if another guild member decides to buy your item with DKP, then you will receive the full DKP bonus for that item. If guildmates are doing normal quests and all guild members present decide to turn in an item for DKP, then all guild members in that party will receive the DKP bonus if the item is disenchanted, and all guild members in that party w. Of course, you are always free to do whatever you wish to items you received outside of official guild raids.
Examples:
Kershaw finds a magister's belt which Tarkin could really use.
Kershaw's options are:
- Sell it on the open market.
- Sell it to Tarkin at a price.
- Turn in the belt to the guild, and if Tarkin buys it with DKP, Kershaw will receive the full DKP bonus, level of the belt * 2.
Kershaw finds a useless Shaman set piece that nobody wants.
Kershaw's options are:
- Sell it on the open market.
- Turn it into the guild and earn 2 DKP, and the item will be disenchanted.
10. What if I think this system sucks?
Please send all constructive comments and suggestions to Supafob or Holysmoke. This system is definitely a work-in-progress, and will be updated or changed many times as it's put into practice.
