Mount St. Helens

When I was living in Oregon, I had the chance to hike on top of Mount St. Helens. That was one of the memoriable hiking trips I took. My friends and I rented boots (special boots with spikes under the sole) and ice axes the previous day. We drove to the camp ground (about an hour of hiking to the timberline) and camped at night.
Because it is much easier to hike when the ice is hard(so the spikes under the boot may hold on to the ice), we got up at 3:00am and started hiking. The trail is only 2.5 miles, but it took us 6 hours to reach the top. At that time the ice was a bit melted by the sun, so we could easily glide down. The return trip took about 2.5 hours.
The view on the top is magnificant, as you can see from the picture. You have to register for the camp ground beforehand, and because the government want to keep the environment clean, they have a limit of 100 hikers per day. So register early!!
