Programming Languages - Java, C++, HTML, Cold Fusion, TCL
Experience with Servlets, CGI, and CORBA
SQL and PL/SQL programming and Oracle Database Management

EXPERIENCE: Hornsonata.com 6/01
Implemented an Access front end to a MySQL database for an online index of classical music. Developed a search interface in PHP.

Memphis Democrat 5/01
Designed the graphics and namespace for a small newspaper. Set up simple templates to allow a client without HTML skills to easily add content to the site.

Illinois Math Science Academy 5/01
Created a system in PHP to enter web citations. Developed style sheets in XSL to display citations in formats based on a variety of bibliographical standards

DiscoverEcon 3/01
Developed an animated online economics textbook in Java with a distributed team of programmers.

MIT Laboratory for Computer Science 1/99 - 5/99
Developed public and internal websites for MIT's Laboratory for Computer Science, including a database repository for research and technical documents. Using AOLServer's TCL scripting interface we designed systems for dynamic content and access to an Oracle8i database for full text searching. I was responsible for database design and implementation as well as much of the scripting and server configuration.
Dial Corp, Fort Madison, IA 4/99
Consulted in migration to Oracle from legacy database in conjunction with migration to new version of MAXIMO, a manufacturing management platform.

GTE Mountain View, CA 6/97 - 9/98
Worked as a senior developer to create a platform for deploying large scale websites with dynamic content, advertisement, merchandise, and discussion forums. As a lead technologist and architect I helped in the research and design phases gaining extensive knowledge of the tools necessary for large scale website creation and management. We developed a prototype website using Cold Fusion for dynamic content generation from an Oracle Database including systems for personalization and content and ad targeting (using Cold Fusion and Netgravity). Following the prototype stage I focused on researching and developing systems for targeting, personalization, customization, and one-to-one marketing as well as web site usage analysis. This led to the development of our own profiling and personalization system using Oracle's Context Option for language processing.

NetGuide Live San Francisco, CA 1/96 - 12/96
Created a flexible dynamic page generation system for CMP Media's new search engine and internet guide, www.netguide.com. Starting from scratch at the beginning of 1996, we created a system that would load data from an Oracle database and make it presentable in HTML, giving designers complete flexibility over layout (before these systems were available over the counter). Additionally, this software allowed for dynamic customization of pages based on browser type and user preferences. I was responsible for managing the team of 9 programmers during the development of our first live release to the public in August 1996.

Oracle Corp. Redwood Shores, CA 8/94 - 9/95
Designed and developed Oracle's GUI Database Administration tools, Server Manager and the new Enterprise Manager, programming in C on the Oracle Toolkit on Solaris and MS Windows and in C++ on MS Windows using the MS Foundation Classes. Solely responsible for the design and implementation of the management applet for Oracle Symmetric Replication.

As a designer of DBA tools I acquired the skills of an Oracle DBA and SQL programmer as well as gaining familiarity with the broad range of Oracle's tools.
