A: I live in San Francisco, and have been rooted in the Bay Area since graduation.
A: As you can tell, not working on my HTML design skills. After graduation, I went to work for an e-commerce company called
Fogdog.com, run by Farm alums Robert Chea, Andy Chen, Jim Morris, Sameer Shamsuddin, etc. It was soon acquired by a company called
GSI Commerce, where I spent a few years. In 2003 I joined another Stanford-heavy startup called CenterRun Systems, followed by a stint at
Sun Microsystems. I left Sun in July of 2005, and signed on as employee #4 at a startup called PowerReviews, started by Robert and Andy. Jim Morris and I were the founding engineers. We grew the company from our kitchen tables to 1500 clients and 5000+ websites, and it eventually was sold to
BazaarVoice. After spending 6 years at PowerReviews running engineering, I've moved on to
Zendesk, which is doing some pretty cool stuff around the traditionally dry world of helpdesk software. We are always looking for engineers, so email me at gautam-at-cs if you're looking to join a fast-growing startup!
